Originally built in 1974 as a Sorrento-Queenscliffe ferry she was decommissioned and moved to Lakes as a commercial fishing boat in 1980. She then moved up to Darwin as a dive boat – or that was the plan. She actually became a drug and gun runner until the law caught up with her. Ian and Tony found her rotting in Cairns and brought her back home to rebuild her into the wonderful charter boat she is today.

Far Out Fishing Charters

Far Out Fishing Charters

Lakes Entrance charter, Far Out II, is a Bass Strait 30 with a 370hp turbo charged Volvo penta diesel. Farout II is suitable for fishing in Bass Strait. Far Out II is also in 2b survey, which allows us to take you 100 nautical miles off-shore for marlin, tuna and sharks.

Far Out is a dry ride and soft riding mono hull, so you stay warm and comfortable throughout your trip. We have the best fish finding equipment, including a new Furuno fish finder, radar, and GPS, and a proper toilet. So with equipment like that, the fish haven’t got a chance.
